500 Placements, 20 Years

If you’d told me back in 2005 that I’d still be here two decades later, I’m not sure I’d have believed you. In fact, after my very first year, I almost walked away completely — a real sliding doors moment. Thankfully, I stuck with it, and those early challenges paved the way for some incredible years.

Then came 2008. Overnight, the recession hit, and everything stopped. What felt like an ending turned into one of the best decisions we ever made — moving to Mexico, where I swapped hard hats for scuba tanks and worked as a diving instructor.

By 2010, life brought us back home. We got married, started a family, and enjoyed some of the most successful years of my career. Then, another curveball — the Covid lockdowns — and once again, the market ground to a halt.

Through all the ups and downs, one constant has remained: adapting, learning, and finding ways forward. Alongside permanent roles, I’ve also placed more than 500 freelancers, helping businesses and candidates navigate an ever-changing market.

I’m incredibly proud to have averaged 25 permanent placements a year since 2005, not just focusing on numbers but on building genuine relationships with the candidates and clients I work with.

None of this would have been possible without my wife, who has supported me since day one, or without the amazing network of construction professionals I’ve had the privilege to work with.

So, here’s to the journey so far — 20 years, 500 placements, and countless memories. I’d say “here’s to the next 20 years,” but hopefully by then you’ll find us living on a beach somewhere!

Until then, thank you — to everyone who’s been part of this story. x
