Our client are a leading name in the construction and housebuilding industry, committed to delivering high-quality homes and communities. With their continued growth and expansion, they are seeking a skilled and motivated Material Buyer to join their dynamic commercial team based out of their Surrey head office.

**Role Overview:**
As a Material Buyer, you will play a crucial role in optimising the procurement processes, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring that projects are supplied with the right materials at the right time and at the best cost. You will collaborate closely with the project teams and other stakeholders to deliver exceptional results that align with the business objectives.

**Key Responsibilities:**
– Source and procure construction materials, ensuring alignment with project timelines and budgets.
– Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best pricing, terms, and quality of materials.
– Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and evaluate their performance to ensure reliability and consistency.
– Collaborate with Site Managers and other departments to understand material requirements and forecast needs.
– Monitor market trends, pricing, and availability of materials to make informed purchasing decisions.
– Maintain accurate records of purchases and suppliers, ensuring compliance with company policies.
– Assist in the preparation of budgets and provide input on cost-saving initiatives.

**Qualifications:**
– Proven experience as a Material Buyer or in a similar procurement role, within the construction  industry.
– Strong negotiation skills with a focus on achieving the best outcomes for the business.
– Excellent analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
– A team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment, with strong organisational skills.

Desirable…
– Working towards professional membership (CIPS or equivalent)
– Knowledge of construction regulations and legislations
– Knowledge of construction methods and materials
– Experience of COINS desirable
– Proficient in MS Office packages, experience using bid writing software is desirable
