Senior Quantity Surveyor for a 1,500 unit development, West Sussex

The role involves working on a significant, multi-phased development project consisting of 1,500 units, with an impressive eight-year timeline. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will report directly to the site-based Commercial Manager, playing a pivotal role in the financial and contractual management of multiple construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
– Supervise, manage, and advise on the financial and contractual aspects of various construction projects.
– Take full responsibility for the execution of the Quantity Surveying function on allocated contracts.
– Ensure the maximisation of quality service and profitability.
– Provide comprehensive cost control and financial reporting across all construction activities undertaken by the company.
Skills and Experience Required:
- HNC / HND in Surveying or equivalent
- Proven experience as a PQS / SQS / Commercial lead working within a residential house builder (dependent on position level)
- A good understanding or building regulations and legal obligations
- A good knowledge or construction methods and materials
- Strong mathematical and IT ability
- Ability to assess and analyse information
- Good understanding of budget management
- Negotiating and networking skills
- Excellent communications skills
- Able to work under pressure, and accept criticism of work
- Good team working skills
- Accurate with an eye for detail
- A methodical approach
- Willing to work extra to meet deadlines as and when the business needs require it
Desirable…
- Degree in Surveying or similar
- Working towards being a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
