Managing Quantity Surveyor – Buckinghamshire

Are you a seasoned Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Surveyor with a knack for contract negotiation and value engineering? Our privately-owned, award-winning regional housebuilder client, are seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their Thames Valley region, managing their internal team of four. This role offers the chance to be part of a dynamic team developing bespoke, high-end properties in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, and Surrey.

Role Responsibilities:

– Place contracts for all relevant subcontractor work on developments.
– Prepare subcontract enquiries, send out for pricing, and ensure contracts align with the build programme.
– Produce detailed trade-specific scopes of work and qualification notes for all enquiry documentation.
– Analyse subcontractor quotes and recommend appointments.
– Ensure standard terms and conditions are agreed upon for all orders/contracts.
– Manage subcontractor payments and process stage payments.
– Handle contra charges and check UTR status of subcontractors.
– Review and process variations in accordance with terms and conditions.
– Collaborate with other teams to meet key build programme dates.
– Verify drawings for practicality and commercial viability.
– Regularly attend project meetings on-site.
– Provide cost advice for the sales team.
– Produce regular reports and compile full cost reports for each development.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in a similar surveying role within a residential housebuilder. Strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities are essential. Being organised and a great team player will ensure success in this busy, collaborative environment.
