Key Responsibilities:

– Prepare financial feasibility budgets for land appraisals.
– Assist the Land team with up-to-date cost information during the appraisal stage.
– Develop budgets for cost/value monitoring by the construction team.
– Take off quantities using company drawings, specifications, and other available information.
– Provide input on technical and design elements at the pre-contract stage to ensure economic design and construction methods.
– Review drawings and offer feedback to the technical team, including value engineering recommendations.
– Conduct cost exercises for construction alternatives or potential design changes.
– Offer cost advice to the sales team.
– Prepare and issue budget, cost reconciliation, and cost forecasting within agreed values.
– Understand and apply relevant codes of practice impacting estimating, such as building regulations and HSE requirements.
– Assist the surveying team in reviewing and providing cost estimates for variation works.

Skills and Experience Required:

– Proven experience as an Estimator, within the house building industry.
– Competent in reviewing, understanding, and taking off quantities from drawings.
– Skilled in preparing budgets and providing cost advice on various estimating matters.
– Strong construction knowledge.
– Proactive in keeping up to date with market rates for trades and materials.
– Proficient in the use of Excel and digital measuring packages (Bluebeam).
– Highly numerate with excellent financial acumen and attention to detail.
– Strong communication skills and a key team player.
